King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud

I know that I’m a humble man and that my personal admiration doesn’t really add much to the greatness of our leader, HRH The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah (Abo Met3eb, Father of Met’eb, as most Saudi citizens so endearingly call him). I just wanted to declare the fact that I’m truly impressed by him and that may Allah gives him the long healthy life he needs to keep on doing his remarkable work in this country.

If you want to know more about King Abdullah then this is his Wikipedia page. It’s very deficient in info especially regarding his achievements and philanthropic work but it’ll do. This is another website about him that I truly liked: http://www.mykingabdullah.com. This one’s in Arabic only though.

What propelled me to write this post is that I have stumbled on THIS GROUP in facebook created by friends of mine to promote a campaign that aims to gather enough support for King Abdullah to be awarded the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.

I believe that he deserves it and you should all VOTE for him: http://www.votefornobelprize.com/. I don’t know much about the legitimacy of the site but you have nothing to lose!

We all raise our hands and pray that God guides you to what’s best for you, us and this nation both in life and the afterlife.

Dr. Adnan Amin د. عدنان أمين

Dr. Adnan was the Head of Parasitology Department before he passed away last weekend, may God have mercy on his soul. The last time I saw Dr. Adnan was 2 years ago when I was going  to our lectures hall during 4th year and he, as he usually does, greeted me with a big smile. I asked him if he missed us now that we’re done with Parasitology and started our clinical years. He replied, it’s better to miss you because you moved forward than not to miss you because you’re still with us in 3rd year!

He was the best thing about a subject that I truly hated! He was respectful, he was funny, he was a good teacher, he was humble and he was a good man all over.

When my friend told me the news that Dr. Adnan had passed away due to a heart attack, I felt my chest tighten. He was relatively young and healthy and it was unexpected.

Dr. Adnan, you will be missed and I hope that one day I get to leave as good of an impression on my students as you did on me and most of those you have taught during your life. A lot of people are praying for you tonight.

Allah yer7mak ya Dr. Adnan wo yed5elak fasee7 jannato. Allah ye9aber ahlak wo a7babak.
